Kinkaleri meets the masterpiece of maestro Giacomo Puccini, Madama Butterfly, the moving and tragic love story set in the exotic Far East of the early twentieth century.
Japan becomes the ideal frame for the gripping story of the two protagonists: the splendid Butterfly and Pinkerton, the American yankee who can have everything. The girl surrenders to love completely and totally — as total as this work of art — with the simple sweetness of one who loves and believes in the other. This absolute love becomes the main thread of a staging developed through musical settings and the use of signs and colours belonging to the world of contemporary art, seeking in the opera an immediacy that connects directly with the youngest audience.
The show unfolds in a play between two- and three-dimensionality, in which the performer nimbly interprets the story's different characters, while song appears in the guise of the enchanting Butterfly, who performs the opera's most famous arias live.
“Kinkaleri's Butterfly (after Giacomo Puccini) is an imaginative, inventive show that wins you over [...].”
Massimo Marino, BOblog, Corriere della Sera
