Tony Duncan

Tony Duncan (Apache, Arikara e Hidatsa) has performed for audiences worldwide. He has performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Smithsonian Museum, the White House, and on occasion of special events like The Billboard Music Awards and The Tonight Show. Duncan has achieved significant results in both music and dance. He is currently working as a flautist with Canyon Records, the main record label for Native American music. Duncan has toured with renowned Native American artists including R. Carlos Nakai and Joanne Shenandoah, as well as the international popstar Nelly Furtado. Duncan starred as a dancer in the music video Big Hoops by Nelly Furtado, with whom he toured Europe and Asia in summer 2012. Duncan has thrilled audiences with his hoop dance performances and as a flautist, in front of over 100,000 spectators in Paris, London, Tokyo, Manila, Switzerland and Malta. He was awarded the prestigious “Artist of the year” award at the Native American Music Awards (NAMA). To date he has published over ten albums, including his most recent one, entitled Purify, winner of the Indian Summer Music Award (ISMA) as best album with flute. Tony Duncan is considered to be one of the best hoop dancers in the world and has earned the title of Hoop Dance World Champion no less than five times.
