Symphony n. 36 in do maggiore K 425

“Linz”

A few years separate the creation of two famous symphonies in C major, both defined by a strong expressive energy. In 1775-76 Haydn composed Symphony n. 69. Since then, its name has been linked to the Austrian war hero, General Ernst Gideon Freiherr von Laudon. In late 1783, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed Symphony K 425 during a brief stop in Linz while returning from Salzburg, where he introduced Constanze, his new wife of one year, to his father Leopold and the rest of the family.
