“A metaphor? A poetic path? A dreamlike suggestion? Maybe The Pied Piper aims at being all of the above. Indeed, the puppets needed to have a life of their own because of their unique form of expression. This led to reimagining the famous Brothers Grimm tale, introducing more complex situations and new characters. Life in the town of Hamelin, with its ancient medieval arts and crafts and the pragmatic approach of a community dedicated to work and production, contrasts with the contemplative and poetic spirit of the young protagonists, Hans and Lise. Guided by kindness and love, they live in harmony with nature and share a close bond with animals. New creatures, unique both in their appearance and their roles, arise as projections of the imagination inspired by places, sounds, and moments within the action, ready to wear bright, colourful costumes to fully embody their characters on stage, finally becoming true actors.”
Eugenio Monti Colla
