Przemyslaw Kapitula

Przemyslaw Kapitula was born in Warsaw in 1965.In 1990, he graduated from the Chopin University of Music, in the organ class of Józef Serafin. He studied piano with Kajetan Mochtak and attended masterclasses with N. Danby, D. Roth, M. Ślechta, Z. Satmary, and G. Bovet. Kapitula has also collaborated with Prof. Jerzy Erdman for many years. He gives around 60 concerts a year and plays at the most important European organ festivals, performing in Poland, Austria, Argentina, Bulgaria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Moldova, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and Uruguay. His recitals have garnered widespread acclaim from the press, including the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Musica Sacra, L’Arena, Schwabischezeitung, DNA, La Stampa, Münchner Merkum, and Südkurier. Kapitula also collaborates with soloists, choirs, and orchestras. He is particularly interested in the works of important Polish organ artists, such as Feliks Nowowiejski (1877-1946) and Mieczysław Surzyński (1866-1924). Kapitula was the first post-war musician to play Surzyński's concerto for organ and orchestra. He is a curator of the musical heritage of the Archcathedral of St. John in Warsaw and holds organ masterclasses in Italy. As the president of the Sacral Music Foundation Festival, Kapitula organises 150 concerts every year for 19,000 people; he is the art director of Warsaw’s International Festival of Sacred Music and International Organ Music Festival. Przemyslaw Kapitula is also a renowned producer and animator of numerous cultural events in his hometown and across Poland. He has performed in several radio and television recordings. He is also a member of the Church Music Committee of the Archdiocese of Warsawand has published all of Feliks Nowowiejski and Mieczyslawław Surzyński’s organ compositions and has also recorded them on CD.
