Fabio Ceccarelli graduated in modern flute from the “G. Briccialdi” Music Institute in Terni in 1986 under the guidance of Maestro F. Chirivì. He continued his studies under Maxence Larrieu and has performed with numerous national orchestras. He has also won multiple awards with chamber music ensembles at national and international competitions. In 2008, he obtained his second-level diploma in Ancient Music with honours from the “A. Pedrollo” Conservatoire in Vicenza, where he studied under Marcello Gatti. He attended masterclasses in chamber music and baroque orchestra with renowned maestros, such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Monica Huggett, Paolo Grazzi, Stefano Balestracci, and Ton Koopman, and won the first prize at the Conservatoire of Vicenza’s Ancient Music Competition in 2007. Fabio Ceccarelli is a soloist with Accademia Hermans with which he has performed at major festivals across Italy, the USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, and Finland. He has also recorded for the Milan-based label Bottega Discantica. From 1992 to 2015, he taught flute at the “A. Onofri” Civic Music Institute in Spoleto. For fourteen editions, he was the founder and Art Director of the “Parco in… Musica” Ancient Music Festival in Valnerina (Umbria), now known as the Hermans Festival. He plays a flute by Rudolf Tutz (Innsbruck, 2006), which is a copy of a Heinrich Gresner (Dresden, ca. 1810).

After graduating with honours in guitar from the A. Buzzolla Conservatoire in Adria under Michelangelo Severi, Fabio Merlante obtained a second-level academic diploma in guitar at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatoire in Ferrara under S. Cardi, in chamber music under T. Mealli, and in lute at the B. Marcello Conservatoire in Venice under Tiziano Bagnati, always with honours. He has won numerous national and international competitions, both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. He also attended masterclasses led by distinguished maestros, such as R. Chiesa, J. Bream, M. Barrueco and D. Russell, as well as in ancient music with L. Contini, R. Lislevand, and N. North. He has made recordings and live radio performances for various European broadcasters, including RAI (Italy), ORF (Austria), Radio France (France), NDR (Germany), and Dwójka (Poland). He has also recorded with several labels such as Bongiovanni, Brilliant, Dynamic, Glossa, and Tactus. He has performed as a soloist and as part of an ensemble in Europe and across the world, particularly in South Korea, Israel, and Türkiye. Fabiano Merlante collaborates as a continuo player with ancient music groups, such as Accademia Bizantina, Accademia Hermans, Alraune, I Musicali Affetti, Lautten Compagney, and distinguished conductors and soloists, including A. Bernardini, O. Dantone, D. Fasolis, R. Goodman, S. Kuijken, and S. Montanari. As a researcher, he specialises in reviving the 19th-century repertoire and playing 19th-century guitars and other historical instruments such as the archlute, theorbo, and baroque guitar. Merlante is also a full guitar professor at the A. Steffani Conservatoire in Castelfranco Veneto. He plays a copy of a Jean-Nicolas Grobert guitar (Paris, 1830 ca.) by Toni De Stefano (Milan, 2009).
