Laetitia Casta takes center stage in the theatrical adaptation of Ettore Scola’s cult classic that explores the condition of women and of homosexuality in 1977.

On May 6, 1938, in Rome, as Hitler was meeting with Mussolini during a parade, an unexpected encounter unfolded. Antonietta, a homemaker and mother of six, knocks on the door of Gabriele, single and a sports journalist, to retrieve her parrot that has taken refuge on her neighbor’s windowsill. Against all odds, the woman, an admirer of the Duce and guarantor of ideological good conduct in her home, and the cultured journalist, estranged from his partner and having been let go from his job due to his homosexuality, find themselves drawn to each other. Gabriele voices the pain of his sexual orientation in a virile, misogynistic society, while Antonietta unveils her anguish as an uneducated woman and a betrayed wife.
